17. Janvier 2025 Sonic matter festival

The throwaway mentality is not an eternal concept. This awareness is now a reality. The question of better management of yesterday's heritage is fuelling the imagination. How can we save the beauty that has been forgotten over time? Where should we put unwanted relics? What to do with traditions and ways of thinking? Retro chic, the recycling economy, preservation and unlearning are just some of the answers. The ideas are many and varied. The SONIC MATTER Festival Zurich 2025 explores them under the motto ‘REMAKE’. It welcomes the French-speaking ensembles Eklekto, We Spoke and Hyper Duo, the company [in]operabilities and its musical theatre for all the senses, our artist in residence Hardi Kurda, guest curator Niga Salam and many others. As a nomadic festival, it will be moving from the Kasernenareal to the Gessnerallee, then on to the ZHdK for its fourth edition.
